John Chapman’s 3D images from Minerals of Britain and Ireland 2009-2024

You can now view some of the images from Andy Tindle and David Green’s new book, The Minerals of Britain and Ireland 2009-2024 in three dimensions on the Russell Society website or here on the BMS Website. To view these images, you need a pair of red-cyan spectacles. These are available from internet sources at reasonable cost, or email John Chapman with your address and they will be posted to you (FOC), or from David Roe in person at the 2025 symposium.

3D Imaging of Minerals

The latest BMS newsletter, number 119, contains an article by John Chapman on 3D imaging of minerals. There is only one image in the newsletter, a pyromorphite from the Susanna Mine, Leadhills, Scotland. A further selection of minerals are included below. Note that you will need red/cyan glasses to be able to appreciate them. David Roe has a stock of these. At the end of this page, there are a couple of photos of John’s setup. Details of each specimen are included in the photos.
